Eric Anderson

Pastor Eric in his tie and stole – and first Sunday lei.

Eric S. Anderson is an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ, which probably makes him a geek right there. But he is also a professional geek, and has spent years maintaining computer networks and systems and trying to keep them working despite their best efforts and intentions.

He now serves as pastor of the Church of the Holy Cross UCC in Hilo, Hawai’i.

He is also a writer, poet, songwriter, and performer (on guitar and now ukulele). His best title is “Dad.”

This is a semi-personal blog. All opinions expressed here are his own – though they may, just possibly, be similar to those held by others.

  1. Your morning’s Daily Devotional was as close to a perfect 8* as one can get to articulating my theology – which I have never been able to do on my own. If you lived in Chicago, I would bake you a rhubarb pie. Martha Phillips, St Pauls UCC

    • Thank you so much! I’m very grateful – and a little sorry that I live so far from rhubarb pie. It’s not quite true that I grew up on it, but during its short season I surely tried. Oh, and thank you for clarifying the octave scale. As something of a musician I should have figured that out, but I didn’t. Blessing to you!

  2. Hello Rev. Anderson. I don’t know the correct terms, but you were my teacher at Oxford Congregational Church so we could get our communion pass 26 years ago. (Remember I said I don’t know terms!)

Anyway, I wanted to write and say I really enjoyed the time we had together. Do you know you were the reason I started playing guitar? After I heard you play “Waltzing with Bears”, I was determined to learn. I ended up having the first guitar ‘tab’ of that song on the internet!

I wish I could remember the places we visited during our tenure. We did that overnight trip where we had to put on plays for the other students. Every once in a while I try and remember because I would like to visit the area again.

It looks like you haven’t aged at all. I’m old and bitter looking, but inside I’m as happy as ever. (https://www.linkedin.com/in/alapatt/ — has a pic)

Hope we can catch up sometime and jam out to Waltzing with Bears.
